Hiring Range: $14.09/hr-$15.65/hr ($34,800-$38,666 annualized) Based on 45 hour work week

Association Description: 

Located near the central gulf coast of Florida, the YMCA of the Suncoast is a strong YMCA engaged in many national YMCA initiatives.  This is an Association serving more than 80,000 community members each year.

Position Summary:
This position will oversee the property and grounds of both the Hernando County and Citrus County YMCAs.  The Hernando County facility is a 27,000 sq. ft.  facility on 20 acres of property, with approximately 7,000 members, that includes an 8,000 sq. foot wellness center, 8-lane Junior Olympic-size heated pool, 2 lighted softball fields, outdoor basketball court and sand volleyball court.

The Citrus County facility is a 26,000 sq. ft facility on 20 acres of property, with approximately 10,000 members, that includes a 6,000 sq. ft wellness center, a Junior Olympic-size pool, a Family Shallow-Depth Entry Pool, fitness trail and outdoor basketball court.

This position, which serves as one of the top administrative branch staff is responsible for day-to-day general administration of the Facilities Departments for both facilities.  Responsibilities of this position will include staff supervision, budgeting, expense control, quality control, community relations, collaborations, long-range planning and equipment and facility maintenance.  The District Property Director also provides direction and leadership for the achievement of Association goals in accordance with the policies, procedures and standards established by the Board. 

Job Responsibilities

High Quality Programs, Services and Facilities

  • Direct and administer total operation of the Property Department including the interpretation and execution of established policies, the development of procedures and methods, staffing, evaluation of the effectiveness of the programs and operation
  • Plan and conduct a wide variety of maintenance programs and activities that maximize the facilities available, support the Cause and enhance membership
  • Create a nurturing and safe environment by reporting suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse or may violate the code of conduct. Ensure the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities, grounds, and equipment by keeping supplies organized, maintain and clean facility and care for equipment.
  • Ensure the branch and staff are in compliance with all federal, state, and local rules, regulations and requirements

 Staff and Volunteer Management

  • Recruit, hire, supervise and develop department staff and volunteers through use of Leadership Competency Model resources that create a culture of cause-driven leaders
  • Lead and/or participate in a branch committee(s)
  • Support branch Y Community Champions efforts
  • Supervise and direct contracted services including, but not limited to housekeeping and grounds care services, ensuring that the expectations of these service providers are met.

 Finance

  • Prepare annual department(s) budget for approval by the Branch Executive or District Vice President.
  • Recommend adjustments and administer the budget, exercising necessary expense controls and revenue production

Community Development

  • Represent and promote the YMCA in the local community and develop positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
  • Promote and communicate the objectives and programs of the YMCA through public communication media  

Financial Development

  • Incorporate storytelling in an effort to advance our mission and cause
  • Participate in Annual Campaign efforts
  • Identify and recruit Annual Campaign volunteers
  • Lead and/or participate in branch special events for fund raising or mission advancement

 Operating Values

  • Serve as a member of branch management and support the branch and association objectives of the YMCA
  • Teach, role model and promote SMART behavior

 Strategic

  • Support the GPS initiatives by participating on a Commitment Team

Position Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 3-5 years supervisory experience in property or related field. Pool certification required.

Must know and understand state, federal and local regulations in regard to all maintenance related areas. A thorough knowledge and experience with swimming pool maintenance and wide range of manual and power tools, including electric welder, saws, bench grinder, sander and electric drill. Extensive knowledge of safety techniques involving the use of chemicals such as liquid chlorine and muriatic acid and a basic to advanced mechanical knowledge is required.

Must possess effective communication, human relations, and organizational skills. Requires ability to work under stressful conditions and various hours to meet the demands of the job.

Must have the ability to climb a ladder up to 34 feet, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must be capable of standing or walking for long periods of time. Must have the ability to bend and stoop repeatedly. Gives and ensures detailed instructions are followed. Must have the ability to be multi-tasked. Must be capable of working under pressure as well as organizing and planning efficiently. Must possess acceptable hearing and visual capabilities in order to monitor fitness environment and supervise staff. Must meet YMCA of the Suncoast driving criteria.
