This position is responsible for instructing and educating members on proper nutrition.


Must demonstrate the ability to provide nutrition education and individual counseling for members. Must have prior experience either teaching classes or conducting nutritional counseling sessions. Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition or related field and successfully completed a dietetic internship. They must be registered by the American Dietitian Association and licensed by the state of Florida. Upon hire, must Intro to the Ys Cause & Culture, Y's Way to Service & Engagement, and I Hear You: Service with CARE. Within 90 days of hire, CPR AED and First Aid, Foundation of Listen First Orientation to Healthy Living, Principles of Member Health and Wellness, Wellness Center at the Y or Group Exercise at the Y trainings required.


Must be able to articulate and communicate effectively while instructing participants in proper eating habits. Must have a positive attitude and ability to work independently.


Must have the ability and patience to instruct classes while using effective communication and human relation skills. Must have the ability to conduct, demonstrate and safely lead a classroom. Must have the ability to lift and carry 15 pounds in equipment.


*1. Educate members on nutritional information

*2. Responsible for instructional content including menu planning and food selection

*3. Takes responsibility for housekeeping duties as related to duties

*4. Exercises sound judgment in relationship to class safety. Follows all emergency procedures

*5. Engages in positive public relations with members

6. Attend all staff meetings, in-house trainings, demonstrations and special promotions as designated by supervisor.

7. Create a nurturing and safe environment by reporting suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse or may violate the code of conduct. Keep supplies organized, maintain and clean facility and care for equipment.
