JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for day-to-day general administration of the program. This includes responsibility for all children, staff supervision, expense control, income generation, program development, quality control, community relations and facility maintenance. They are responsible for making sure the site meets all YMCA, state and county licensing requirements. This position works with their supervisor to provide direction and leadership for the achievement of Association goals in accordance with the policies, procedures and standards established by the Board.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct and administer total operation of the School Age Program site including the interpretation and execution of established policies, the development of procedures and methods, staffing, evaluation of the effectiveness of the programs and operation
  • Plan and conduct a wide variety of programs and activities that maximize the site, support the cause and enhance program participants.
  • Ensure the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
  • Promote and monitor membership and/or program growth, taking a leadership role in membership cultivation and retention
  • Assure facilitated activities are safe, engaging and age appropriate for program participants
  • Responsible for maintaining all records and data on each child, employee and volunteer
  • Responsible for effectively handling all emergency incidents and submitting proper documentation that may occur in YMCA program, using mature, sound judgment
  • Recruit, hire, supervise and develop department staff and volunteers through use of Leadership Competency Model resources that create a culture of cause-driven leaders
  • Lead and/or participate in a school committee(s) i.e. SAC , PTA
  • Support Y Community Champions, volunteer program efforts
  • Implement weekly planning sessions with staff to include awareness and understanding of YMCA programs, services, and customer service skills.
  • Assist in preparing annual site budget
  • Monitor the budget, communicate variances and exercise necessary expense controls and revenue production
  • Responsible for collection of fees and reporting weekly balances
  • Represent and promote the YMCA in the local community and develop positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities
  • Promote and communicate the objectives and programs of the YMCA through public communication media
  • Actively participate in school- related committees
  • Incorporate storytelling in an effort to advance our mission and cause
  • Participate in Annual Campaign efforts
  • Identify and recruit Annual Campaign volunteers
  • Lead and/or participate in branch special events for fund raising or mission advancement
  • Serve as a member of supervisory team and support the association objectives of the YMCA
  • Teach, role model and promote SMART service behavior
  • Establish positive rapport with children, parents, volunteers and school personnel
  • Support the GPS initiatives by providing projects or activities to the children that promote the strategic work in Youth Development, Healthy Living, Volunteerism and Philanthropy
  • Incorporate Living Our Cause into work products and behavior

Position Qualifications:

Education: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of six college credit hours in early childhood or education or Florida Child Care Professional Certificate required. A degree in a child-related field is preferred.

Work Experience: Previous child care and supervisory or leadership experience required.

Certificates/Licenses: Must have or be enrolled in state mandated trainings within 90 days of employment. Trainings must be complete within 12 months of employment. Florida Director Credential preferred. CPR/AED and First Aid required within first 90 days of employment. Must meet YMCA driving criteria. Lifeguard and Listen First certification preferred.

Physical: Must be 21 years of age or older. Must be able to stand, remain outdoors and maintain continual physical endurance for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds, watch, listen and facilitate group activities.

Mental: Must be mentally alert and be able to process and follow directions.

Skills: Must be able to supervise, coach and manage staff. Must be able to supervise and instruct large groups of children. Knowledge of sports and children's programming preferred.
